► Ukraine’s interim central government has threatened to“blockade” pro-Russian militants in the eastern town of Slovyansk and told Russian troops on maneuvers that any crossing of the border would be seen as an invasion, The New York Times reports. “Attempts at a military conflict in Ukraine will lead to a military conflict in Europe,” said Ukraine’s interim prime minister, Arseniy P. Yatsenyuk, in a live cabinet broadcast. “The world has not yet forgotten World War II, but Russia already wants to start World War III.” Ukraine’s warning reflects concerns that its efforts to move against forces aligned with Moscow in the eastern part of the country could trigger a Russian military action under the guise of a humanitarian or peacekeeping initiative, the Times reports.
