► A pilot program designed to make airport security checkpoints more pleasant and efficient has been disbanded. According to the Los Angeles Times, the program revamped the screening areas with soft colors and mood lighting while providing electronic signage indicating wait times. The remodel, which established “recomposure areas” where travelers could rest after completing the screening process, was designed to look like a hotel lobby. The program worked, according to the article, speeding up security lines by 25 percent at the two airports where it was deployed—The Dallas Fort-Worth International Airport (DFW) and the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. A DFW spokesperson quoted it the article said that the airport is currently seeking new sponsors in an attempt to continue the program.
