► A photo of San Francisco International Airport was published in a spring issue of Inspire magazine, a propaganda magazine published by al Qaeda. The photo is of the AirTrain at SFO, which connects all the of the airport's terminals with terminal garages and the rental car center. Below the photo a caption in Arabic reads “…stand up, pack your tools of destruction. Assemble your bomb, ready for detonation,” according to CBS San Francisco. Inspire is one of al Qaeda’s most popular publications and police said that the suspected Boston Marathon bombers used instructions from the magazine to assemble their homemade pressure cooker bombs. However, the FBI has said there is no immediate threat to the airport.
► Schools should plan for critical incidents and conduct frequent drills so students and staff feel comfortable with them and react automatically in a crisis, according to Kevin Quinn, president of the National Association of School Resource Officers. Quinn was interviewed by USA TODAY in the aftermath of the stabbing at a Pennsylvania high school, which left 22 injured. While the suspected stabber was attacking students in the building, one of the students fleeing the building pulled the fire alarm—a crucial move that might have saved lives, Quinn said. “You’ve got a mass critical incident with a lot of blood, a lot of chaos, going on in front of kids,” he told USA TODAY. “They may see that and just freeze. The fire alarm may have triggered something deep in their brains, ingrained in them since they were little, and made them react.” Quinn recommended that schools plan and practice drills to evacuate buildings quickly, and to take those drills seriously so students know there is a plan in place should an emergency situation arise.
