The Future of Campus Safety and Security

The Future of Campus Safety and Security

Overview

How safe is your campus? Given the tragic events of the past few years, there is no question that campus safety is in the forefront of the public mind and that schools are being held to a much higher standard than in the past. At the same time, the modern campus has become increasingly complex as new technologies provide for a much richer learning experience for students. But do the two really need to compete at budget time or can they be leveraged to work together?

Join Emergency Management and the Center for Digital Education at this thought-provoking event where we will discuss:
  • Protecting the campus community through emergency preparedness
  • Trends in campus safety and security
  • Challenges: funding; planning, migrating and incorporating new technologies; finding the right providers and partners; addressing liabilities
  • Best practices including:
o    Planning, testing, reviewing, implementing and validating emergency response processes
o    Transparent communication of safety and security plans within the campus and surrounding communities
o    Consistent approach
o    Using technology to support policy implementation and enforcement
