The Homeland Security Science and Technology (HSST) Program at UDC has a two-fold thrust: to increase the number of underrepresented minorities in Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology priority research areas and to develop an institutional research infrastructure in the DHS S & T social and behavioral sciences priority research area.

He will receive an award, on April 10, 2014, at the U.S. Department of Justice ceremony related to the Presidential Proclamation on National Crime Victims' Rights Week. A letter received from the U. S. Department of Justice, dated March 19, 2014, stated in part: "Every year, the President of the United States sets aside one week to honor victims of crime, entitled National Crime Victims' Rights Week. ... Our office commemorates National Crime Victims' Rights Week with a ceremony where we honor those who have shown particular courage and persistence while participating in the criminal justice process. ...
